Same; keeps calling and doesn't leave a message. When I call back I get a recording saying the "call can not be completed as dialed".

This number just called me. I answered the phone, it hung up on me. No message left. So I Googled the number to see who it was. I found this page, and complaints similar to mine.

Called on 2 different days - I pick up, say HI about 3x, then hang up, cause no one answers.  Annoying!

I couldn't reach the phone in time and they didn't respond to my "Hello"s.

I immediately redialed the number and it said "your call cannot be completed as dialed - please check the number and dial again".  So they are somehow faking or forging the caller id number.  What does that say about the legitimacy of their business?

Called AGAIN...I said HI twice this time (instead of 3x), no answer, I hung up.  I'm on the Do Not Call list - truly ANNOYING!

Calling for weeks.  When call came in this a.m., I picked up but did not answer.  After 2 minutes, caller came on - Brontus Software.  Told them we were retired, not in business and take off list.

Yes, here I am AGAIN - they've called twice today.  What gives?!  I've already reported them to the DO NOT CALL list several times - how do I make these annoying calls stop???  They never answer when I pick up, if I don't pick up they don't leave a message, and when I call THEM back, I get a signal/tone like you get when your call drops to let you know the line is clear.  SO FRUSTRATING!

Same thing here - a hang up call and when you call them back, you can't get through.  This is relatively easy for a hacker to pull a VOIP number at random to make it appear as a legit number.  (I work and hold certification in Data Security and do work relating to ID theft).  When you get a bad# like this after it comes up on the caller ID, chances are the company is not legit, is piggybacking off a US number but in actuality is from another country that does not practice extradition with the US to phish for personal information - whether it be trying to "sell" you something that requires you to give personal information or whatever.  



NEW LAWS - As of 12/1/08 all these automated calls will be required to do the following:

1) They must prove you responded to some type of marketing that gives them explicit permission to use autmated dialing.  (same as with email/SPAM now).  
2) They must start their automated message within 2 seconds of pick up.  
3) They must tell provide you an automated instant Opt Out of calls (by hitting a button on the phone).
4) For voice mails picking up they have to provide an toll free number to automatically be removed from the call list.

The bad news is, collection agencies and non-profits are exempt from the laws.  I think this is awful because I am constantly harassed by collection agencies who have the wrong number looking for people who I don't even know. (I've had my same # for 10 years - no excuses for that harassment).  

The best thing I can suggest is keep people in the loop on forums like this and file formal complaints with the FCC.  Enough smoke is blown about a given number and eventually someone will investigate and put a trace out.  If it is legit, they will be fined heavily, if it isn't they will transfer to another number and the process will start again.

3 calls yesterday and another one today.  It is DEAD Air.  You pick up and no one responds.  

Tried claling back and number is not in service.

I would recommend filing a complaint with the FCC.  being the number is "not in service" whomever it is is using a VOIP phone and mirroring the Caller ID.  Meaning that they have a bar bones line that is for outgoing calls only and they manipulated the code to make it appear as if there is a number so call block (unknown callers) is averted.  Better chance of getting through.

There is a way to trace it, but you need significant resources to do it.  It isn't easy.  With enough complaints, it will more than likely get bumped to the proper authorities to investigate.

Another hang up call.

The FCC responded and claims that hang up calls are suddenly legal.  I say if a number gets too many complaints, they will trace it back to the provider.

This number dials us two to three times a day.  Really annoying when you have to drop everything to answer.
